A New region-based Active Contour Edge Detection Algorithm for Oil Spills Remote Sensing Image

چکیده

Edge detection technology of oil spills image on the sea is one of most key technologies to monitor oil spills on the sea. In this paper, we present a novel region-based active contour model for oil spills remote sensing images. In the proposed model, we define a local Gaussian distribution fitting energy term, and this energy term is introduced into a global minimization active contour framework. The energy function minimization is achieved fast by a dual formulation. The proposed algorithm does not require the definition of initial contour, and is robust to the strong noise, intensity inhomogeneity and weak edge boundaries exiting in oil spills remote sensing image. The experiment results have shown that the superior performance of proposed algorithm over conventional edge detection algorithms.
